Authorized Representative Restrictions

The following restrictions apply to authorized representatives:
- County employees involved in certification and/or issuance and retailers authorized to accept SNAP benefits may not act as authorized representatives without the written approval of the County Director or representative if it is determined that no one else is available as an authorized representative.
- Individuals disqualified from the SNAP Program for an IPV, a drug felony, a fleeing felon or parole/probation violators, for receiving duplicate benefits or for trading benefits must not act as authorized representatives during the period of disqualification unless the individual disqualified is the only adult member of the household and the worker determines that no one else is available to act on the household’s behalf.
- The worker must ensure that an authorized representative:
- Was freely requested by the household.
- Correctly represents the household’s circumstance.
- Is properly using the benefits.
- Homeless meal providers may not act as an authorized representative for SNAP clients.
